North American Cyclocross Trophy Series Details

Seems like our investigative reporting on the new national series Sunday afternoon scooped the "big media" and encouraged the official details of the series to be released. So here are the full details of the new national series, dubbed “North American Cyclocross Trophy.”
The new $40,000+ series consists of 4 weekends and 8 races: September 20/21, October 10/11, November 1-2, and November 22-23. They are as follows:
September 20 - UCI C1 - FSA Star Crossed presented by Gerk’s Ski and Cycle at King County’s Marymoor Park, Redmond Washington
September 21 - UCI C2 - Rad Racing GP presented by Kona and FSA at Ft. Steilacoom Park, Lakewood Washington
October 10-11 - UCI C2 - Gran Prix of Gloucester at Stage Fort Park, Gloucester Massachusetts
November 1-2 -UCI C1 - Boulder Cup at Harlow Platts Park, Boulder Colorado
November 22-23 -UCI C1 - Whitmore’s Landscaping Super Cross Cup at Southampton Youth Services Park, Southampton New York

2008 North American Cyclocross Trophy Points Championship comprises eight events

Eight established UCI cyclocross races in North America are linking their races together to form a new series this fall.
The North American Cyclocross Trophy Points Championship will include a $7,000 series prize list and include some well-known events such as the FSA Star Crossed in Washington, the Gran Prix of Gloucester in Massachusetts, Colorado's Boulder Cup, and the Whitmer’s Landscaping Super Cross Cup on Long Island.
"The series is made up of races with a proven track record. They are the classic cyclocross races in North America. The races are already on the UCI calendar, the financial backing for the series is already in place and the advertising has already been negotiated," said RAD Racing GP's Jim Brown.

NORTH AMERICAN CYCLOCROSS TROPHY DESIGN CONTEST

The promoters of the North American Cyclocross Trophy are turning to the cyclocross community to design the inaugural series trophy for the Elite Men and Women. The community that supports and loves cyclocross in North America is, at its core, creative and interested in giving to the sport. This design contest for the inaugural series trophy is an opportunity for an interested artist to express the essence of cyclocross in what will become the top prize in North American Cyclocross.
The NACT will be accepting design concepts until September 1, 2009. Sketch it, explain it, video it, whatever it takes to convince us you got the right design. Please explain the medium and scale of your creation in your submission. We’ll argue about which design is best for a week and name a winning on September 8, 2008.
